We need to have a mass policy advocacy strategies and actions of climate change networks to centralize and increase funding in adaptation. We need to enter into the national, regional and global political debated with evidence and lobbying. I see the roles of global networks and increased voices from LDCs and SIDS and also support from environmentalists of the developed countries.

Daniel Gallagher answered a question on how the Adaptation Fund was transparent with their grant making and funding. Gallagher said that proposals that come through are published on their website, along with the technical reviews that inform the Board’s decisions – the cycle happens three times a year. They invite comments from civil society and other groups and would welcome further input from any interested groups wishing to contribute to the review process.

Some of the advice from CBA7 participants to the conference organisers:
Pablo Suarez said: “We need to spend some of our time constructing something new that doesn’t exist – even some of the time – a real workshop is one where you create something where something before didn’t exist.” Diane Archer from IIED: “More local actors” and Paul Mitchell from Save the Children: “more controversy at the start and not at the end” (referring to presentation by Terry Cannon from IDS). -
